What is art licensing?
Art licensing allows you to use my designs on your products for a defined period of time, under clear agreed terms. You pay a licensing fee to use the artwork while I retain the copyright and ownership of the design. Licensing can be non-exclusive or exclusive, depending on your needs.
What does exclusive licensing mean?
An exclusive license is negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Together, we agree on the specific terms of use, including product category, territory, and duration.
For example, if a design is licensed exclusively for childrenswear in the USA, it may still be licensed for a different territory or a different product category, such as wallpaper or stationery.
I retain the copyright and ownership of the design at all times. At the end of the agreed licensing period, you will have the first option to renew the license. If the license is not renewed, all rights return to me as the artist.
What does non-exclusive licensing mean?
A non-exclusive license allows you to choose one of my existing designs and use it on your products, manufactured by your preferred printer, within a single product category.
The same design may also be licensed to other companies at the same time and will continue to be available through platforms such as Spoonflower, where it can be purchased on fabric, wallpaper, and other products. I always retain the copyright of the artwork.
What file formats do you provide?
All designs are supplied as high-resolution repeating tiles in JPG format, typically 3000 × 3000 px at 300 dpi. Files can be provided in RGB or CMYK, depending on your printer’s requirements. Pantone color references can also be supplied if needed
Can you provide layered artwork?
Yes. If your printer or manufacturer requires layered files, please let me know in advance so I can prepare the artwork accordingly.
Can colors be customized?
Yes, most designs can be customized to suit your brand’s color palette, including Pantone-matched colors. Some more complex designs may allow limited color adjustments, such as background changes only. Feel free to ask so we can discuss what’s possible.
